My week spent at Uni💙

A Week in My Life at Magee: The Honest, Chaotic, and Surprisingly Festive Edition

Welcome back to Deadline Diaries, where assignments are stressful, nights out are spontaneous, and student budgets are hanging on by a thread. This week had a bit of everything lectures, cinema nights, pub quizzes, and a hunt to find a student budget friendly Christmas tree.

Monday: Lectures & the Classic “We’ll Just Go Out for One” Lie

Monday started normal, lectures, note taking, pretending to be organised. Nothing special.

Then someone said the magic words:

“Are we going out tonight?”

We all know how that ends.

What was meant to be a quiet drink turned into a full on night out in Derry. Music blasting, laughing too loud, and absolutely no consideration for Tuesday morning.
Classic student behaviour.
No regrets… except maybe the hangover.

Tuesday: Surviving Class + Brunswick Cinema Night

Woke up questioning every decision made the night before, yet somehow made it to class. A miracle.
After lectures, we decided to do something wholesome to make up for Monday’s chaos  Brunswick
Moviebowl cinema night.

Popcorn, oversized drinks, and switching off our brains for two hours? Bliss.

But the real highlight of Tuesday wasn’t the cinema…
It was our mission to find a Christmas tree on a student budget.

🎄 The Christmas Tree Chronicles: B&M & Home Bargains Edition

We walked into B&M and Home Bargains like we were in a Christmas movie  but the reality was more

like a chaotic student version of Supermarket Sweep.

Comparing tree sizes, debating tinsel colours, panicking over prices, trying to pretend we have taste… it was a whole experience.

At one point we stood there for 10 minutes discussing whether the £7 lights were actually any different from the £9 ones (they weren’t).
But that’s student budgeting for you.

Eventually, we picked a tree, grabbed decorations that may or may not match, and headed home to put it up, and honestly it looked GOOD. Like suspiciously good for a student house.

A wholesome end to an otherwise chaotic start of the week.

Wednesday: Lectures & Argyle Quiz

Wednesday started with the usual lectures, but the highlight of the day was quiz night at the Argyle.
The quiz was a mix of challenges general knowledge questions, “guess the person in the picture,” identifying the artist of a song, naming counties, and a sport questions round. Some of our answers were educated guesses, some were lucky shots, but the mix kept everyone laughing and engaged throughout the night.

Our team worked really well together, and by the end of the night… we won! Not “almost” or “close second” we actually came out on top.

It was the perfect midweek break  a mix of friendly competition, laughs, and a small victory to cap off a busy week.

✨Thursday: Driving Home to Armagh

Thursday was mostly spent driving home from Derry to Armagh. The best part of the journey? The deep, random conversations that somehow only happen in the car everything from uni stress to future plans.
It was a nice, quiet way to end a busy week, and by the time we arrived home, it felt good to finally relax and recharge.

Final Thoughts

Was this week perfectly productive? No.
Did we hit every lecture? Sort of.
Did we accidentally become festive, chaotic, and sleep deprived ? Absolutely.

From nights out to cinema dates, to the most dramatic Christmas tree shopping trip ever, to winning the Argyle quiz this week at Magee had it all.
